1953 Hudson Hornet Club Coupe

Construction Details

10/8/11 - Here's the famous Twin-H six. Lots of separate parts here! I have one minor criticism. Photos I've seen of the 1:1 car show exposed air filters on the two air cleaners. Engraving or decals would have improved the look.

10/8/11 - Love the wide whitewalls!

10/8/11 - The chassis built up nicely. Although the front wheels move, they are not connected to the tie rod ends, so it's necessary to move them separately for posing. The instruction sheet is a little tricky, because the chassis assembly drawing is not upside-down. This makes it difficult to figure out proper placement of the smaller parts. The color photo of the finished chassis helped out a lot.

10/8/11 - Here's the body in primer. There are some fairly significant mold seams that have to be smoothed out, particularly on the front fenders. For some reason Moebius engineered the kit with the front fender ornaments molded in. The kit could have been improved if these had been separate chrome parts, and it would have made dealing with the fender seams much easier. Caution is in order when sanding the seam on the trunk lid; it's very close to the deck lid script. The large side trim could have also been done separately, such as in some recent Revell kits.

10/10/11 - Painted: 1953 Hudson Honey Cream over Meadow Green

10/10/11 - Clearcoat and polishing still to come...

10/23/11 - Here's the finished interior.

10/23/11 - I really liked the super-detailing with the dashboard decals.
