But there
was one issue...should I build the yellow version as the coupe
or the roadster? Hmmm. Then I remembered that in my stash of old
built models, I had a couple of more '36 Fords tucked away. (Yeah,
I almost never throw anything away!) So I dug around in the storage
closet and came up with five more! These were really old models; original issues of the '36 Ford that dated back to
the early 60s. They were also pretty seriously hacked up, customized
(some of my earliest attempts), and generally abused. But using
extra parts from the two unbuilt kits, I found that I had enough
to salvage one as a stock version. Bingo! Now I had the chance
to build three different versions of the stock 1936 Ford.
But I still had four
more-or-less complete models that I could do something with, so I started disassembling them, stripping away old paint
and body filler, and swapping parts around to see what I could
come up with. There was one fairly complete chassis and fender
assembly that hadn't been too severely modified, so I decided
to restore it to stock condition and add a resin humpback two
door sedan body to the mix. That left me with three custom projects.
